| Starlight Walk - 20 June 2008 |
| Posted: redflame100 @ Wed May 21, 2008 3:51 pm |
Do you know someone with cancer?
Many people and their families receive vital care and support from Macmillan Cancer Care.
Their work is funded by donations and you can help by taking part in this exciting walk. Thanks to volunteers and Corporate Friends of the Starlight Walk every penny of your entry fee and any additional sponsorship money you raise goes to support the work of Macmillan in Norfolk.
Step out in the starlight
20th June 2008
The Starlight walk is exactly what it says it is. It’s a walk at night, under the stars. Participants walk 13 miles around the Outer Ring Road in Norwich, starting and finishing at the Sportspark. It’s not a race. It’s definitely just a walk and it’s a chance to enjoy the company of friends and other walkers as you raise money for Macmillan.
On the move at midnight
The walk begins at midnight so you really do set off under the stars. And the most exciting part is you’ll be striding out as the sun comes up and the dawn chorus begins. Most participants find the walk takes them around 4-5 hours, but of course there is no rush. Everyone does the walk in their own time and on your return we will provide you with a lovely hot tea or coffee. We’ll also ensure the route is marshalled and first aiders and support vehicles are on hand.
Everyone is welcome-
men and women
In previous years the walk has only been open to women. But this year we’d love men to join in as well. Men and women will walk in opposite di...

Walk of Thoughts 29th June - Walking together to Support and Remember
The Walk of Thoughts is on the 29th June and is a (just over) 6 miles walk through the normally private grounds of the Somerleyton Estate. This year's route starts and ends at Fritton House Hotel and meanders around the periphery of Fritton Lake. It is a cross country route though fields and along tracks with beautiful views of the woodland and the lake itself. Walkers can set off anytime between 10am and 1.00pm and the Marshalls step down at 4pm for the close of the event.
Advance Prices:
Adult: £5
Child (under 16) : £3 each
Family (max 4) : £13
Team (min 4) : £4 each
You can also enter on the day however prices rise by £2 per person/family/per team member. In order to support complete cancer care for those in Norfolk and Waveney we ask that you try and raise as much sponsorship as is possible, however there is no minimum amount needed to enter the event.
Families are more than welcome.
Dogs need to be kept on a lead.
The route is not suitable for Wheelchairs or buggys as the track is uneven in places.
Please contact Rachel at Big C on 01603 619900 for information and entry forms.
